Patient Care
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist (PT)
- Deliver hands-on therapeutic interventions targeting:
- Deliver hands-on therapeutic interventions targeting:
- Endurance
- Speed
- Strength
- Weight support
- Dynamic balance
- Gross and Fine Motor Skills
- Monitor and report patient progress and responses to treatment to the supervising PT
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Complete progress notes and treatment records within required timeframes
- Communicate any changes in patient status promptly to the supervising PT
Education & Support
- Instruct patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive strategies, and fall prevention techniques
- Assist in the supervision and guidance of rehab techs as permitted by state practice guidelines
- Stay current with emerging research and best practices in neurorehabilitation
Qualifications (Required)
- Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current and valid Texas PTA license (or eligibility to obtain)
- CPR/BLS certification
- Strong knowledge of neurological conditions including:
- Stroke / CVA
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Parkinson's Disease
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
- 2-3+ years of experience in neurological or neurorehabilitation physical therapy
- 3-5+ years of experience in neurological or neurorehabilitation physical therapy
- Experience with robotic neurorehabilitation devices
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities within the scope of PTA practice
- Empathetic and patient-centered approach to care
- Motivated to achieve measurable patient outcomes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Collaborative team player with a positive attitude
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to take direction and work effectively under the supervision of a licensed PT
